Degree Requirements
- 3 major area courses (3
credits each)
- 3 minor area courses (3
credits each)
- 2 elective courses (3
credits each)
- 1 seminar course
(non-credit)
- Ph.D. qualifying exams
- Ph.D. Thesis

Must Courses
Students should choose a major and minor area of specialization from the four areas listed in courses and take 3 courses from each area of specialization. In addition, the students should take 2 free electives.

Qualifying Exams
Upon the completion of course requirements, the Ph.D. candidate takes a written and an oral exam on his/her major and minor specialization areas. The Ph.D. candidates should identify their major and minor specialization areas and inform the Informatics Institute Secretary in writing. This should be done in the add-drop period of the semester the student will take the exams. The latest qualifying exams can be obtained from the secretary.
